SHORT TITLE:
Defining state medicaid agency.
DATE INTRODUCED: February 20, 1998
CODE REFERENCE: §9-1-2 (amend) and §9-4-3 (amend).
PROPOSED LAW PRESENTED TO THE COMMITTEE: This bill codifies the
fact that the division of health and human resources is the "state
medicaid agency." Federal law requires that each state designate
a single state agency to administer medicaid funding.
The bill also addresses the Advisory Council for the Medicaid
Services fund and makes certain changes to it, including:

Board changed from nine to from nine to thirteen members and
states all but two of whom to be appointed by the state
medicaid agency.

Consumer representation is added.

Reimbursement changed from $25.00/day to reasonable and
necessary travel expenses for each day actually served.
